Shaina Chandler, LPC, CSOTP

Shaina Chandler, LPC, CSOTP, CCTP-II, CCATP, C-CBT, C-DBT is a highly experienced clinician with over 16 years of specialized work in trauma, complex family systems, and problematic sexual behaviors. Her work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change occurs when safety, accountability, and compassion are integrated within trauma-responsive systems of care, particularly for youth and families impacted by systemic inequities and juvenile justice involvement.

Shaina earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Art, with a minor in Art History and Pre-Art Therapy, from Lynchburg College (now the University of Lynchburg), and a dual master’s degree in Art Therapy and Trauma Counseling from The George Washington University. She has played a key role in the development, implementation, and expansion of trauma-based curricula that are currently utilized across military, detention, and residential treatment settings, supporting individuals with complex trauma histories and high-risk presentations.

Throughout her career, Shaina has held multiple senior clinical leadership roles, including serving as Clinical Director across several organizations, Director of Trauma-Informed Services, and Director of Children and Family Services at a domestic violence and sexual response center. Her professional experience spans a wide range of settings, including group homes, detention centers, residential treatment facilities, outpatient programs, and community mental health agencies. She is deeply committed to serving underserved and marginalized populations and is particularly passionate about detention and correctional reform, with a focus on improving access to ethical, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed services.

Shaina is trained in multiple evidence-based, trauma-focused modalities, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She also holds advanced trauma credentials as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level II (CCTP-II) and a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CCATP).

A nationally recognized trainer and expert witness, Shaina provides consultation, evaluation, and training at both state and national levels. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support the implementation of trauma-informed practices within clinical, educational, foster care, and juvenile justice systems. She is the Founder and Clinical Director of the Center for Safety and Healing, where she leads program development and creates specialized curricula and intervention resources for families, clinicians, foster agencies, DSS, and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
