Intensive Outpatient Services

Intensive Outpatient Services (IOS) provide a structured, therapeutic environment for adolescents and young adults who are navigating mental health challenges. This program is designed for individuals who require more support than traditional outpatient therapy but do not need 24-hour supervision. Intensive Outpatient Services are ideal for those transitioning out of a higher level of care, such as residential treatment, or for those living in independent living or group home programs.

Participants in Intensive Outpatient Services engage in a variety of therapeutic activities, including:

  • Group therapy sessions: Facilitated by licensed professionals, these sessions foster peer support, skill development, and shared experiences among participants.
  • Individual therapy: One-on-one sessions with a therapist allow for personalized attention and tailored treatment plans that address specific needs and goals.
  • Family involvement: Family therapy sessions may be included to improve communication and support systems, fostering a collaborative approach to healing.
  • Skill-building workshops: Participants learn coping strategies, emotional regulation techniques, and problem-solving skills to navigate daily challenges more effectively.

Intensive Outpatient Services typically meet several times a week, allowing participants to engage in therapy while still managing school, work, or other daily responsibilities. The program focuses on:

  • Developing resilience and coping skills
  • Addressing underlying issues contributing to mental health challenges
  • Improving interpersonal relationships and communication
  • Fostering independence and self-awareness

This level of care is particularly beneficial for adolescents and young adults seeking a supportive community as they work toward recovery. Intensive Outpatient Services provide a bridge between higher levels of care and independent living, ensuring participants receive the guidance and support they need during this critical transition. IOP services can also be offered on an individual basis, this is ideal for those who may need virtual IOP services, are unable to engage in group dynamics, or have specific needs not appropriate for the current IOP curriculum.

If you or a loved one is ready to take the next step in mental health treatment, Intensive Outpatient Services can offer the support and structure necessary for growth and healing.

The Center for Safety and Healing does not accept insurance directly. However, we collaborate closely with local Community Service Boards (CSB) and Family Assessment and Planning Teams (FAPT) to facilitate access to our services. If approved by your locality, these services are often covered as part of FAPT involvement. Additionally, we work under a statewide contract with Evidence Based Associates and the Department of Juvenile Justice, allowing us to provide services through these partnerships.

For those not utilizing FAPT/CPMT/DJJ funding, we can provide a monthly superbill, which you may submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network coverage.
