Shaina Chandler, LPC, CSOTP
Founder and Clinical Director, Center for Safety and Healing

With over 17 years of experience in the mental health field, Shaina Chandler is an accomplished Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP) dedicated to fostering the next generation of therapists. As the Founder and Clinical Director of the Center for Safety and Healing, Shaina has cultivated an environment where emerging clinicians can thrive and develop their skills, particularly in the areas of problematic sexualized behaviors and sexual trauma.

Shaina's journey began as a child and victim advocate at a Domestic Violence Shelter, igniting her passion for working with families and youth. She earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology and art from Lynchburg College (now the University of Lynchburg) and later pursued a Master's degree in Art Therapy and Trauma Counseling at The George Washington University. Her extensive training in evidence-based modalities, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), equips her to provide comprehensive supervision to LPC residents.

Believing in a holistic approach to treatment, Shaina emphasizes the importance of addressing emotional, physical, social, and behavioral needs in her supervision. She draws on her diverse experience working in residential treatment centers, group homes, shelters, and foster care/adoption agencies to guide LPC residents in developing effective therapeutic practices.

As a clinical supervisor, Shaina is committed to nurturing the clinical skills of her supervisees, promoting a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, and encouraging ongoing professional development. Her passion for teaching and her dedication to the mental health community make her an invaluable resource for LPC residents seeking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of their clients.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Shaina enjoys training her therapy dog, Benny, spending quality time with her family, reading, crafting, and soaking up the sun at the beach.
